Don Moore, Bass
Don is an accomplished and versatile bassist, who is well-known for his work in the free jazz genre (Archie Shepp, New York Contemporary Five and Don Cherry), while maintaining equally solid credentials as a post-bop/hard bop player, as evidenced by his associations with Jackie McLean, Monk, Elvin Jones, Grant Green and Sonny Rollins, among others. Originally from Philadelphia, Don learned how to play in his associations with Lee Morgan, Kenny Barron, and the Heath Brothers. D

Lea Kobayashi-Moore, Guitar & Vocals
Lea first discovered the NYC jazz scene in 1990 when she began attending weekly jam sessions at the University of the Streets in the East Village. There, she had the opportunity to sit in with and learn from some jazz greats, who included Jimmy Vass, Frank Gant, Frank Hewitt, Tommy Turrentine and Jimmy Lovelace. Lea studied music at the Mannes College of Music and at the Manhattan School of Music, and received a bachelor’s in Jazz performance from the City College of New York. |
